A large-scale stand-alone water feature built as a reflective basin with an integrated waterfall and grotto.
The water surface is designed to function as a mirror — calm, controlled, and visually deep. It captures the architecture, sky, and surrounding landscape, turning the space into a constantly shifting reflection rather than a static view.
The waterfall is embedded into a sculpted rock formation, creating a natural transition between elevation and still water.
Behind it, a hidden grotto allows access inside the structure, where the water can be experienced from within the landscape itself.
The pond is structured with dedicated zones for swimming and diving, allowing it to function not only as a visual element, but as a usable space.
A walking scenario is built around the water, including movement through the grotto, creating a sequential disclosure of the composition.
Section text
The surrounding landscape is carefully composed to support the water feature, ensuring that all elements read as a single, unified environment.
The composition is built around contrast:
– still reflective water vs. dynamic waterfall
– open surface vs. enclosed grotto
– large spatial scale vs. detailed natural textures
The project is designed as a self-contained environment, where movement, perspective and interaction are part of the overall composition.
Project demonstrates how a water feature can go beyond decoration and become a central spatial experience.
It combines reflection, movement, and physical interaction — creating a landscape that is not only seen, but lived in.
