This project transformed a narrow shaded entrance passage into a small immersive rainforest experience.
The space had very limited sunlight, which became the main inspiration for the garden atmosphere and planting palette. Instead of fighting the shade, we embraced it — creating a dense layered composition of moss, ferns, tropical foliage, orchids, climbing plants, and textured stone elements.
A shallow water feature with gentle flowing water was added to introduce movement, sound, and a calm welcoming atmosphere near the house entrance.
The garden was designed to feel hidden and slightly overgrown — like discovering a small rainforest ecosystem unexpectedly tucked between walls and architecture.
Rather than functioning as a traditional decorative entrance, the garden creates an emotional transition between the outside world and the home.
Natural timber, moss-covered elements, exposed roots, wet stone textures, and soft groundcovers create a sense of age and natural growth, while orchids and tropical plants bring delicate moments of detail and contrast throughout the space.
