A secluded naturalistic garden designed for a private countryside property near Canberra.

The goal of this project was to create a hidden retreat slightly separated from the main living area — a place protected from wind, visually enclosed, and immersed in a calm natural atmosphere.
To shape this feeling of privacy, we created raised landforms with sculptural artificial rock formations.
These elevated rocky gardens wrap around the pathway and fire pit zone, forming a sheltered landscape experience while preserving open views toward the surrounding nature.

The planting palette was inspired by European alpine and woodland landscapes rather than tropical gardens.
Pines, ornamental grasses, groundcovers and drought-tolerant perennials were carefully integrated into rock crevices to soften the stone structures and create a layered, natural composition.

A pathway compressed between gentle hills gradually leads toward the fire pit space — a quiet focal point designed as a hidden gathering area within the landscape.
The result is a wild yet balanced garden that feels deeply connected to the surrounding environment while offering comfort, protection and seclusion.
